We also offer career guidance and organize events to help you connect with the best companies across the world. Contact us to learn more! Follow our website for events, competitions, relevant job postings and internship opportunities. But you can kickstart your career by becoming a Volunteer Teacher for the Thousand Homes, Thousand Schools project today! Application Requirements

  • You are a university student or graduate (bachelor’s degree or higher)
  • You will be in India for at least four consecutive weeks during the summer or winter break
  • You know a child in your neighborhood that can benefit from the project
  • You are able to spend at least one hour a day during this time to help your future student
  • You are fluent in Bengali or Hindi, which is the same language that your future student speaks
  • You are fluent in English
  • You have access to a laptop and a stable internet connection at your residence in India.

Responsibilities

As a teacher, you will teach an underprivileged child that is working in your neighborhood – maybe even at your own home – for one hour a day at your own home. Using your laptop to access our online tools and educational aids that we will provide, you can help the child learn basic activities such as ‘telling time’ to help them become more empowered and independent. Our specialized lesson plans will help guide you and your student to apply basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills to their daily activities in the most creative and efficient way.

Unfortunately, for this first year, we are only able to create lesson plans in Bengali and Hindi. We hope to be able to extend the campaign to more languages next year.

If you think you have what it takes to be a voluntary teacher for a child in your neighborhood for the A Thousand Homes, A Thousand Schools project, we are very happy to hear from you! To apply for an interview, please email us your CV, along with a cover letter containing:

  • A description of why you would want to work for the project
  • A description of the child you want to help.
Please send your application to mala@littlespark.org with ‘TEACHER’ in the subject line.

If you do not fit the description of student teacher but still want to help us, please contact us with your proposal or idea.

This is your opportunity to change a life and improve your career without even leaving the comfort of your own home.

Don’t miss it!
